贝多芬的一生充满戏剧性，音乐本身精彩绝伦并具革新精神。本场音乐会中所演绎的作品，在贝多芬的生命中分别扮演着不同的角色。有趣的是，第四交响曲于1807年首演于一场私人音乐会，由贝多芬同时担任指挥家与钢琴家，该场音乐会的其他两首曲目正是今天上演的《科里奥兰》序曲与第四钢琴协奏曲。英雄风格的《科里奥兰》序曲与充满了生命力和青春气息的第四交响曲，搭配钢琴巨作的一部里程碑式作品--第四钢琴协奏曲，以此作为致敬贝多芬诞辰250周年系列音乐会的开篇。
The year 1807 was considered by Beethoven scholars as the happiest period of his life: the 37-year-old Beethoven was deeply in love with Teresa von Brunswick and that sense of bliss and intoxication carried into his creative process. The Symphony No. 4 is premiered on the same evening in a private concert at the home of Prince Lobkowitz in 1807 along with the Coriolan Overture and the Piano Concerto No. 4 with the composer as both the conductor and the pianist.
To kick off the year-long celebration of the life and music of this great man, SZS's chief conductor XU Zhong leads the orchestra in a re-enactment of that felicitous event. The Coriolan Overture illustrates the hero's plight and struggle for justice which have characterized Beethoven the man and influenced his work. The Piano Concerto No. 4 is revolutionarily simple, sublime and surprising. It remains today as one of the monuments of piano literature with its amazingly suggestive and subtle qualities. The Symphony No. 4 is the least frequently performed of all the Beethoven nine symphonies, but a sunny and cheerful symphony - a temporary departure from Beethoen's propensity for somberness and solemnity.
许忠 | 指挥
许忠是享誉国际乐坛的中国钢琴家和指挥家之一，现任意大利维罗纳夏季音乐节、歌剧院首席指挥，以色列海法交响乐团音乐总监、首席指挥，上海歌剧院院长，苏州交响乐团首席指挥，苏州大学音乐学院院长，江苏大剧院江南之声音乐节艺术总监，福建省歌舞剧院艺术指导。2012至2015年期间，担任意大利贝里尼歌剧院艺术总监、首席指挥，成为有史以来第一位出任意大利著名剧院该项职务的亚洲音乐家。
1992年毕业于法国巴黎国立高等音乐学院，师从法国钢琴大师多米尼克·墨赫莱，并在桑坦德、东京、柴可夫斯基等国际钢琴比赛中赢得大奖。指挥师从中国指挥泰斗黄晓同教授，歌剧指挥师从意大利歌剧权威皮耶罗·拉塔利诺。
多年来，许忠一直以指挥家和钢琴家的"两栖"身份活跃于国际乐坛，与许多国际一流乐团和大师有过良好的合作，在钢琴以及指挥领域尤其是歌剧指挥领域得到了欧洲各大歌剧院以及国际古典音乐界公认。"激情、细腻、极富感染力"，这是多年来世界各地媒体对许忠的评价。他指挥过的交响乐团包括：巴黎管弦乐团、法国国家交响乐团、意大利米兰威尔第交响乐团、佛罗伦萨五月歌剧院交响乐团、德国爱尔福特歌剧院交响乐团、澳大利亚墨尔本交响乐团、韩国 KBS 交响乐团、中国爱乐乐团、广州交响乐团和上海交响乐团等。并与斯卡拉歌剧院、威尼斯凤凰歌剧院、佛罗伦萨五月歌剧院、维罗纳圆形剧场、巴塞罗那利塞乌大剧院、瓦伦西亚索菲亚王后艺术歌剧院、巴黎歌剧院、英国皇家歌剧院、德国莱比锡歌剧院、旧金山歌剧院、悉尼歌剧院等长期保持紧密合作。指挥过《丑角》《乡村骑士》《茶花女》《游吟诗人》《阿依达》《波希米亚人》《托斯卡》《修女安洁利卡》《灰姑娘》《费加罗婚礼》《漂泊的荷兰人》《蝙蝠》《微笑的国度》《埃莱科特拉》《卡门》《人类的声音》《天堂和地狱》《阿列柯》等歌剧。
1988 年至 1994 年，许忠在西班牙巴塞罗那第 34 届玛利亚·卡那尔斯国际钢琴比赛、日本滨松第一届国际钢琴比赛、西班牙桑坦德国际钢琴比赛、第五届东京国际钢琴比赛、莫斯科柴可夫斯基国际钢琴比赛等重大国际钢琴比赛中多次获得大奖及荣誉。
2010年，许忠荣膺由法国文化部颁发的法国艺术及文学勋章骑士勋位。2018年，许忠荣升法国艺术及文学勋章军官勋位。
XU Zhong | Conductor
As one of the most internationally renowned Chinese pianist and conductor in the world, Xu Zhong is currently Principal Conductor of Arena di Verona, Music Director and Chief Conductor of Israel Haifa Symphony Orchestra, General Director of Shanghai Opera House, Chief Conductor of Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and Dean of Soochow University School of Music, Artistic Director of Sound of Jiangnan Music Festival by Jiangsu Grand Theatre, Artistic Director of Fujian Song and Dance Theatre. Between 2012 and 2015, he was Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Teatro Massimo Bellini.
He graduated from Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, under the direction of the famous French pianist Dominique Merlet. As a conductor, he learned with Prof. Xiaotong Huang and Maestro Piero Rattalino.
Over the years XU Zhong has been actively worked with many prestigious orchestras, including Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Erfurt Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, etc. His talent in conducting, in particular, has been acknowledged in the leading opera houses in Europe and worldwide - Teatro alla Scala, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Arena di Verona, Liceu Grand Theatre, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Opéra de Paris, Royal Opera House, Oper Leipzig, San Francisco Opera House, Sydney Opera House, etc. His repertoire includes PAGLIACCI, CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA, LA TRAVIATA, IL TROVATORE, AIDA, LA BOH?ME, TOSCA, SUOR ANGELICA, LA CENERENTOLA, LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, DER FLIEGENDE HOLL?NDER, DIE FLEDERMAUS, DAS LAND DES L?CHELNS, ELEKTRA, CARMEN, LA VOIX HUMAINE, ORPHEE AUX ENFERS, ALEKO and etc.
In 2010, XU Zhong was awarded the Chevalier de L'ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, France, for his contributions in classic music and cultural exchange. In 2018, XU Zhong was promoted as the Officier de L'ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Sebastian Knauer has performed in more than 50 countries across 4 continents, playing at venues like the Berlin Philharmonie, the Gewandhaus, the Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall , the Théatre des Champs-Elysées, the Tonhalle, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Lincoln Center, the Harris Theater in Chicago, the Auditori Barcelona, the Sala Verdi Milan, Herbst Theatre San Francisco, the Forbidden City Concert Hall and the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing, Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Toppan Hall in Tokyo.
He makes regular festival appearances in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the Rheingau, at the Dresden Music Festival, Piano Fest Ruhr, Beethovenfest Bonn, Schubertiade Hohenems, Salzburg Festival, Gstaad, Montreux, Bath, and Ravinia.
Now a SONY artist, Sebastian Knauer's extensive discography of more than 15 CDs has won awards such as the Klassik ECHO Award and a Grammy nomination. He is the co-founder of the project "Hamburger Piano Summer".
