　　慕尼黑室内乐团由克里斯托夫˙斯蒂芬创建于1950年，是欧洲现存历史最为悠久的室内乐团之一。作为二战后欧洲乐坛兴起的"复古"风潮倡导者，慕尼黑室内乐团在诠释巴洛克或古典时期的作品时着重于揭示乐曲的客观原貌。他们并不像一些古乐团那样完全使用古乐器进行演奏，而是在使用现代乐器的基础上，力求在音乐原本面目与现代审美趣味之间找到适当的平衡点。每个音乐季，乐团都会向当代最具代表性的作曲家委约新作。近年来，曾为乐团进行创作的作曲家包括：埃尔基-斯文˙图尔、萨米尔˙奥德赫-塔米米、约尔格˙维德曼以及中国作曲家谭盾等。
　　2006年乐团迎来了第四任音乐总监--新一代指挥家中的杰出代表亚历山大˙李布莱希。这位极富时代感的继任者不仅完美地平衡着乐团的"传统"与"创新"，更以其独特的美学观点与乐团一起深入到探索新声音的工作中去。
　　Munich Chamber Orchestra is one of the oldest surviving chamber orchestras in Europe, founded in 1950 by Christoph Stepp.  As an advocate of the "retro" trend in European Music after the Second World War, Munich Chamber Orchestra focused on revealing the objective nature of music when interpreting baroque or classical works. They do not use ancient instruments as some ancient orchestras do, however, pursuing to find the proper balance between music and modern aesthetic tastes. Every seasons, the orchestra commissions' new works from some of the most contemporary representative composers. In recent years, composers who have written for the orchestra include Erkki-Sven Tüür, Samir Odeh-Tamim, J?rg Widmann, Chinese composer Tan Dun and so on.
　　In 2006, the orchestra welcomed their fourth musical director, Alexander Liebereich, a distinguished representative of a new generation of conductors. This extremely contemporary successor not only perfectly balances 'tradition' and 'innovation' of the orchestra, but also goes deep into exploring new sounds with the orchestra from his unique aesthetic point of view.
