1992 saw the beginning of New Year concerts in China. Since then, people in Beijing are used to celebrating New Year in festive orchestral atmosphere with Strauss music.

For over 20 years, Chinese people have seen new-year-concert playing orchestras from all over the world. Austrian Strauss Legacy Philharmony Orchestra is an international music group with a long history. It prospered for years in Austria and grew into an outstanding orchestra with about one hundred professional musicians.To memorize and inherit the music legacy of great Austrian composer Strauss, the Strauss family, which have owned an orchestra since 1843, stick to their roles of serving by performing from Vienna to the whole world.

Since the beginning, Austrian Strauss Legacy Philharmony Orchestra has achieved huge success performing thousands of concerts all over the world, bringing high-standard performance to more people and providing free concerts and varieties of educational events. They also tried to step out of classical genre and invited famous musicians to perform every year.

The orchestra received extra attention when performing in Tokyo, Spain, Portugal, Italy, North America (New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Chicago), South America and China. They have been around the Europe. Different as traditional orchestra, this one can not only play classical music, but also progressive modern pieces.

该团曾三次来到中国进行巡回演出，在北京人民大会堂、上海大剧院、上海东方艺术中心、福州大剧院、哈尔滨音乐厅、温州大剧院、常州大剧院以及太原、厦门、深圳、大连、长春、郑州、兰州等地共演出数十场，所到之处，都受到观众的热烈欢迎。各地媒体都以大幅报道盛赞乐团的演出。

The orchestra pay a lot attention to different culture in other counties. They have good collaboration connections with EU countries, have their own soloists, and hold master classes, trying to introduce classical music to the public. They also hold Charity fund concerts for the public goods.

The orchestra has been in China for three times for performances. They have been playing in many places like Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Shanghai Grand Theater, Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, Fuzhou Grand Theater, Haerbin Music Hall, Wenzhou Grand Theater, Changzhou Grand Theater and other cities in China. They received huge welcome everywhere.

圆舞曲之王——约翰 施特劳斯

奥地利著名作曲家、指挥家约翰、施特劳斯和他的父亲同名,人们称其父为老约翰施特劳斯,他被誉为“圆舞曲之父”。1844年,当约翰施特劳斯第一次演出自己的作品《寓意短诗圆舞曲》时,在人们“再来一个”的喝采声中竟连续重奏了十九遍。据说,第二天维也纳的一家报纸写到:晚上好!老施特劳斯,早上好!年轻的施特劳斯。意思是说:“在圆舞曲的领域内,年轻的施特劳斯的时代到来了”。施特劳斯一生创作了大约八百首以上的作品,包括一百七十首圆舞曲、一百四十一首波尔卡、六十九首方阵舞曲、四十七首进行曲等。代表作有:圆舞曲《蓝色多瑙河畔》(被誉为奥地利的“第二国歌”)、《艺术家的生涯》、《春之声》、《南国玫瑰》、《皇帝》等。此外,他还创作了十六部轻歌剧,其中以《蝙蝠》和《吉卜赛男爵》最为著名。特别是这首《蓝色多瑙河》,圆舞曲在初次上演数月后就已成为施特劳斯作品中最动人心弦的乐章,而且成了维也纳的音乐象征。出版商施皮纳不得不印剧成千上万份乐谱发往世界各地。一块铜版能印刷一万张纸,据说施皮纳耗用了一百块铜版。以明朗舒展的旋律着称的约翰施特劳斯以维也纳圆舞曲对后世的专业音乐起了极大影响。约翰施特劳斯被称为:“圆舞曲之王”。

King of the Waltz -- John Strauss

The famous Austrian composer, conductor John Strauss and his father share the same name. His father was called Senior John Strauss. He was known as the "Father of the Waltz".In 1844, when John Strauss first performed his own works, "Meaning Short Poem Waltz",in crowd’s encore cheers he played nineteen times more. It is said that next day a newspaper in Vienna wrote: “Good evening old Strauss, good morning young Strauss!” Meaning in the Waltz field, the young Strauss era has arrived. During his whole life Strauss wrote about more than eight hundred works, including one hundred seventy waltz, one hundred forty-one polka, sixty-nine square dance, forty-seven marches. Famous works are: Waltz "Blue Danube River" (known as Austria's "second national anthem"), "La Boheme,""The Sound of Spring", "Southern Rose", "Emperor" and so on. In addition, he also wrote sixteen operetta, in which the "Bat" and "Gypsy Baron" the most famous.Especially the piece "Blue Danube" waltz played in the first few months after Strauss had become the most touching works of music, and music has become a symbol of Vienna. 萨伯教授生于1941年,1962年他夺取了第一个国际小提琴大奖—巴托克音乐大奖;并在同年创办了著名的萨伯弦乐四重奏组,出版了数十张CD,在许多重要的艺术节上都留有他的足迹。

萨伯教授长期任教于奥地利凯腾州立音乐学院。他不仅是著名的小提琴演奏家,也是桃李满天下的音乐教育家，更是世界著名小提琴收藏家。萨伯拥有数十把意大利名琴，他不仅演奏古典作品,还演奏过250多个新作品。他的演奏风范不禁使人们联想到施特劳斯的圆舞曲《维也纳人的气质》。
