Formed in 2014, the Thalea String Quartet has been praised for their “vibrant performance” and “sincere expressivity” (SF Classical Voice). The quartet has performed recitals across Europe, the United States, and Canada, and has appeared at the Kennedy Center, Massey Hall, and Weill Hall. They were the first quartet-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music from 2015-2017. They also serve as Associated Artists at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo, Belgium, where they are mentored by the Artemis Quartet. The Thalea String Quartet were top prize winners at both the 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the 2018 Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition.

The Thalea String Quartet prides itself on the diversity of its collaborations. They have performed Mendelssohn’s Octet in its original manuscript form with the award-winning Borromeo Quartet and shared the stage with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw in performances of works for voice and string quartet. They have performed alongside Geoff Nuttall of the St. Lawrence String Quartet, violist Jodi Levitz and composer Mason Bates. The Thalea String Quartet is dedicated to bringing timeless music to audiences from all walks of life. The Thalea String Quartet aims to connect with audiences on a musical, emotional and personal level. They are devoted to building a new and diverse audience for chamber music through innovative programming and community engagement. The members are dedicated educators and bring their commitment to teaching and community engagement to their frequent educational and community performances. They have performed educational concerts to students of all ages and regularly perform at care facilities and schools across the United States.

克里斯托弗·惠特利Christopher Whitley

A Canadian violinist, from Baroque to electronic music, Christopher is committed to exploring and performing music of all styles. An avid proponent of contemporary music, Christopher has performed as both concertmaster and soloist of the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble. As a composer, Christopher’s primary focus is on expanding the potential of the solo violin, incorporating technology, electronic music and interactive visual art. Blending classical music, popular music and a variety of improvised styles, he has performed across the United States and Canada, including at the 2009 CMJ Music Marathon in New York. He has been invited to create new works at residencies at the Banff Centre and at the Britten Pears Young Artist Program in Aldeburgh, UK. Christopher performs on the 1700 “Taft” Stradivari, generously on loan by the Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank.

坂本光子Kumiko Sakamoto

加拿大著名小提琴家；获得旧金山音乐学院室内乐研究的硕士学位以及皇家山大学的艺术家证书。坂本光子曾作为独奏者和室内乐家在世界各地演出，包括肯尼迪中心、梅西音乐厅、巴黎圣叙尔皮斯和威尼斯拉菲尼斯剧院。2015年，坂本光子录制了意大利作曲家吉诺哥里尼的首张作品专辑。坂本光子对艺术的热情延伸到声乐、舞蹈和戏剧领域，并获过许多奖项，包括阿尔伯塔省音乐节小提琴和音乐剧组第一名、加拿大国家音乐节室内乐奖。坂本光子也曾是旧金山交响乐团合唱团的成员。作为一名舞蹈演员，坂本光子仍然喜欢在业余时间上芭蕾课，也喜欢为家人朋友烹饪食物、举办晚宴。

A devoted chamber musician, Kumiko received an Artist Certificate from Mount Royal University and a Master’s degree in Chamber Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the world, including performances at the Kennedy Center, Massey Hall, St. Sulpice, and Teatro la Fenice. Kumiko recorded the first album of works by Italian composer Gino Gorini under the Tactus label which was released in 2015. Kumiko’s passion for the arts extends to voice, dance and theatre. She has received many awards, including first place in violin, voice and musical theatre at the Alberta Provincial Music Festival, and a chamber music award at the Canadian National Music Festival. She was a member of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. A dancer for most of her life, Kumiko still enjoys attending ballet classes in her spare time, as well as cooking healthy meals and hosting dinner parties for her friends and family.

Violist Luis Bellorín comes from a family devoted to the arts in Caracas, Venezuela. His playing has been praised for its warmth of sound and for having an "impossibly sweet tone" by The San Francisco Classical Voice. In 2015, he made his debut in Beijing, China at the summit of the Pacific Alliance of Music Schools, where he enjoyed meeting and collaborating with students from music schools throughout the Pacific Rim. Collaboration is an integral part of Luis’ musical philosophy, as he frequently works with composers to bring new works to life. After his arrival to San Francisco in the fall of 2014, Luis shared the stage with many artists such as the Pacifica, Miró, and Borromeo String Quartets as well as Geoff Nuttall, and composer Mason Bates. He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds a Master of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Luis completed his studies, at both institutions, with the Pacifica Quartet and violist Masumi Per Rostad.

蒂蒂莱奥·阿扬加德Titilayo Ayangade

A Cellist and chamber musician, Titilayo maintained an active orchestral and chamber music performance schedule as a member of The Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Chicago Sinfonietta, and the Yas Quartet. Titilayo played at the Classical Music day at the White House in 2009 and appeared as a guest artist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra as a member of the Nouveau Chamber Players. As an avid chamber musician Titilayo has worked with the Ying Quartet, Tokyo Quartet, Harlem Quartet, Takács Quartet and the Vogler String Quartet. As a member of the Yas Quartet, Titilayo was a prize winner at the Schoenfeld International String Competition in 2016. Titilayo has attended Bowdoin International Music Festival, Meadowmount Summer Music Festival, International Festival de Inverno Campos do Jordao, Aspen Music Festival and Colorado College Summer Music Festival. Beyond the concert stage, Titilayo has made several appearances on Fox's hit TV show Empire.

林涛Lin Tao

美籍华裔钢琴家、施坦威艺术家；每年演出超过100场，评论家称他不但拥有“华丽和浪漫的情调”，还拥有“敏锐的音乐才智和优秀的演技”。林涛出身于上海的音乐世家，1990年底获全额奖学金赴美留学。作为钢琴独奏家的林先生先后与莫斯科室内乐团、温尼伯交响乐团、迈阿密室内乐团和纳什维尔交响乐团等合作演出。作为演奏家，他先后在肯尼迪艺术中心、国家艺术馆、第92街区、洛克菲勒大学、史密斯艺术表演中心、明尼苏达管弦乐团音乐厅、日本泉厅等著名场馆演奏。曾和著名音乐家马尔·奥里维拉、罗伯托·迪亚斯、威廉·德·罗莎、尤金尼娅·祖克曼以及大都会歌剧院、柏林国家交响乐团的成员合作演出，也在汉普顿斯音乐节、迈阿密莫扎特音乐节、音乐山室内音乐节、罗拉艺术节和鲍登国际音乐节上演奏过。林先生也是一位钢琴教授，目前在美国鲍登国际音乐节任职。最近，他获得了上海师范大学音乐学校的授予的“海外名师”的称号。

Described by critics as possessing “Keen musical intelligence and excellent facility” (Miami Herald) as well as “opulent and romantic tone” (Fanfare), Chinese-American concert pianist and Steinway Artist Tao Lin has performed in Asia, North America, and Europe. As a recitalist, he has performed at such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center, National Gallery of Art, 92nd Street Y, Rockefeller University, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Minnesota Orchestra Hall, Izumi Hall. He has also appeared in concerts with distinguished musicians such as Elmar Oliveira, Carol Wincenc, Roberto Diaz, William De Rosa, Eugenia Zukerman and members of Metropolitan Opera and Berlin Staatskapelle Orchestras. A regular guest artist at numerous music festivals, Mr. Lin has performed at the Music Festival of the Hamptons, Mainly Mozart Festival, Music Mountain Chamber Music Festival and Arts Rolla Festival. He is also a visiting professor at Shanghai Normal University and a faculty member at Bowdoin International Music Festival.
